The CRM solution integrates with a vast amount of different apps. For freelancing, the integrations I’ve found the most useful are

PipeDrive is an excellent CRM software choice for freelance businesses as it was designed for the small business owner, not the large corporations.

Opening An Account

To start using the CRM solution, you create an account with them. Whilst you create your account, apart from the usual Name and Business Name information required. They also ask you how experienced you are with sales tools and the industry you’re in.

The process of creating an account is really easy to do and done in less than a minute.

After you’ve created an account you can

  • Watch a short overview
  • Import your contacts
  • Sync your Gmail account

Setting Up Deals

Add a deal by clicking the green button ‘+ Deal’.

Afterward, a small box will appear for you to add the new prospective client’s details. Details including

  • Name
  • Business Name
  • Email Address
  • Value Of Deal
  • Expected Close Date

After you’ve added the new prospective clients details, they will appear at the start of the pipeline.

Each time they enter a new stage of the pipeline, you can drag and drop the prospective client to that new stage. This gives you a more visual pipeline as to how close you are to closing the sale.

Creating An Activity

Activity on the CRM is anything that moves your prospective clients to close the sale.

Examples of activities are

  • Phone call
  • Lunch
  • Meeting
  • email

Or any other activity that gets you closer to closing the sale.

So how do you create an activity so that it’s recorded?

Go to the left sidebar in black and scroll down til you get to a calendar icon thats labeled ‘Activities’ when you hover over it with your mouse.

Click on the calendar icon and you will get your activities dashboard.

Click on the green button labeled ‘+ Activity’. Now you are able to create an activity in the small box that has appeared on your screen.

Fill out the details about the activity including name of person, date, activity to be done, and any notes.

When you’ve done this the activity will appear on the dashboard. This helps you to keep track of any activities you’ve got planned in moving closer to closing the sales with your leads.

Also, it’s useful to use after you’ve closed the sale and keep track of the relationship you’ve got with your new client. Adding any new projects your working with them on, or any time you need to video call them.

If you find yourself losing track of where you are with leads and clients. This will go along way to helping you.

Need To Upgrade

Whilst you’re using the CRM software, you may find yourself restricted in how you can use it. Therefore, you need to upgrade to one of the 4 subscription types it has to offer.

How Much Is PipeDrive?

Pipedrive has got 4 pricing strategies;

  • Essential
  • Advanced
  • Professional
  • Enterprise

Although the essential pricing strategy is the cheapest, it does come with the watermarks. Also, it’s quite restrictive in growing a freelance business.

All of the pricing strategies comes with 150+ integrations, 24/7 support, and GDPR compliance. Though as a freelancer the professional package was more suited to grow a freelance business.

PipeDrive Cons

The only real drawback PipeDrive has is that it doesn’t really grow with your freelance business.

Although depending on how big you want your freelance business to grow is entirely down to you.

But with using this CRM tool, when you are a smaller freelance business, it can help you to grow your freelance business.
