With over 450 million monthly users, Pinterest remains one of the best ways to generate money for free on the internet. Right now. You don’t need any prior experience or an audience already built.

All of these methods are zero risk. Just choose which method you think will work best for you.

How To Make Money On Pinterest In 7 Easy Ways

Affiliate Marketing

I have been doing affiliate marketing since 2011 and Pinterest is my favourite way to promote my affiliate links. It is a business model that doesn’t require you to pay a penny. You just choose a product to promote, get your tracking link, and promote it.

To do affiliate marketing with Pinterest you are sending traffic to a

  • Landing page
  • Blog
  • Video

From one of these places that you are sending your Pinterest audience too, they then convert into customers. This is where you make money by earning a comission from the sale using your link.

Okay, that’s the easy way to put it. Of course it takes a bit more work than that as you’re sending the audience to a free piece of content.

Let’s say you’re an affiliate of a Keto recipe book. The process you would take would be

  • Create a pin of delicious Keto recipes
  • Your free content would be a recipe
  • You now link to the recipe book stating that if they would like more recipes get the book

Free content is just building up your audience to want the paid content. So you need to put something in front of them that will make them hungry to buy.

Print On Demand

Print on demand is what people like you are doing to create and sell their own merchandise. You don’t need to be an influencer or even have a massive following to capitalize on this hot business. Capitalize on this business by creating designs for a specific niche and place them onto hoodies, t-shirts, notebooks, and other apparel.

How Does Print On Demand Work?

This whole business model works by you the seller, designing and marketing the product you want to sell. When a customer places an order, you either place this order manually or it’s automatically done.

From there the print on demand company fulfils this order. As you can see that it works like dropshipping. The difference between dropshipping and print on demand is that you have your own brand and design.

Using Pinterest To Market Your Print On Demand Business

In your Pinterest business account (that you created earlier), you can link your eCommerce site to Pinterest. Go into your Pinterest account settings and click claim. You’ll then be given an HTML tag that you can place on your website.

Please remember that if you’re going to use a marketplace like Amazon, this won’t work. But if you’re creating your own website, Etsy, or Shopify store it does work. Simply claiming your website isn’t the only thing you need to do on Pinterest to get traffic. You need to create pins that get clicks.

If you’re going to be using a marketplace like Amazon, don’t worry that you can’t claim. This won’t hinder your efforts. Whichever situation you’re in, you all need to do the same thing. You need to create pins that’ll drive traffic to your products and converts into sales.

Dropshipping

Dropshipping is a very scalable business model where you can basically sell products that are manufactured and shipped by a supplier of your choice. This means that, just like the previous method, you won’t ever have to touch a single one of the products that you sell.

To see success with this method, you’ll want to identify a trending product or just any product that has a lot of wow factor. You can do this by searching the recent results on Pinterest analytics and TikTok made me buy it or Amazon finds.

Once you found a product, you can go ahead and add it to a website you build.

Amazon KDP

Amazon KDP stands for Kindle Direct Publishing. This business allows you to publish and sell any kind of book and earn royalties of every sale. You can design things like diaries, journals, workbooks.

Blogging

Blogging is my number one way how I make money with Pinterest. If you don’t have any money to invest in building a website, you can start a free blog and drive traffic there.

To make money by blogging, choose a product you love and would want to promote. Then start creating articles for the product niche.

For example, your product is a mattress. You need to create content that targets keywords that people are using when looking for solutions related to mattresses. To find these keywords you can do that really easily with these free keyword tools.

You want to be making content that answers

  • How to
  • Versus
  • Best or Top
  • Long tail keywords

You want a real mixture of keywords so that you get topical authority, rank higher on search engines, and get more website traffic.

Email Marketing

A powerful strategy to make money on Pinterest is building an email list.

This is powerful as you have an asset with a list of email addresses. You can email subscribers daily, weekly, or monthly. Therefore, you can build a relationship with your subscribers and warm them up before you ever sell your product to them.

All the other methods require the customers to decide there and then if they are going to buy. You might not even get a second chance to sell to them.

But with an email list and a good welcome sequence you can sell to your customers regularly.

Sponsorships

Some pins are sponsored. This means that brands are paying creators to do a pin promoting the brand.

You may have thought sponsorships were just for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. But you can get sponsorships on Pinterest.

To get sponsored, create a profile or media kit to show brands. You can find brands on platforms such as Get Blogged where you can reach out to brands looking for creators in your niche.

If you do get sponsorships, make sure that you use the relevant tag on Pinterest stating that it is a sponsored pin. This way you stay transparent with your audience and tell them that you are being sponsored by the brand.

Finding If There’s Demand For Your Niche On Pinterest

Before you start using Pinterest, you need to see if there’s a demand for your niche. Like you would with any search engine, type in your niche keyword and see what other keywords pop up.

If your keywords are popping up then that means there are real people searching for pins and products in that niche. Go ahead and take a look.

Great now, you’ve had a look to see what keywords are popping up in your niche, it’s time to get down to business.

Create Pins That Get Clicks And Generate Sales

Get traffic to your products by creating pins. Before you start going into a panic about what you need to design, have a look at the pins in your niche that are already working.

Take a look at these pins and note down what about the pins are working

  • Colours
  • Design
  • Font
  • Text

Now you know what you need to put in your pin, you need to start creating. For creating pins on Pinterest, I use the tools Canva and Placeit.

With Canva, I can create attractive pins using their own templates. This is really useful if you don’t have any graphic design skills. Placeit is a great tool to put your new product on a mock-up. Typical mock-ups I love to use are lifestyle designs. These lifestyle designs show people using the product in real situations.

You can take the PlaceIt mock-up and put it on your Canva design. Using the two tools together helps me to create eye-catching pins and a wide variety of pin styles. Creating a wide variety of pin styles is especially useful, Pinterest loves it when you give fresh pins every day.

What About The Cost Of The Tools?

Both Canva and Placeit have got free options. Use the free options whilst you’re building your business and waiting to get those initial sales from Pinterest. Once you get sales, then upgrade to the pro accounts. But when you do upgrade, you do get lots more options for templates on Canva and mock-ups on Placeit.

That’s the basics to starting a print on demand business so you can make money from Pinterest. If you don’t want to try starting a print on demand business, you can try affiliate marketing.
